Illegal dumping of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) is rife. RGC can advise on legal, legitimate ways of ensuring your WEEE products are recycled properly. There are many companies in the UK who claim to be legitimate WEEE recyclers that are illegally disposing of these items in developing countries. Often they export the waste as "second-hand or used equipment" negating the need to comply with the shipment of waste regulations. The Environment Agency has a dedicated task force group seeking out illegal shipments, stopping containers and tracing back the origins of any waste found to the original producer. If your WEEE is found in one of these searches you may be liable for prosecution (resulting in possible court fines and negative PR etc.).
